Calhanoglu takes a dig at AC Milan
Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu returns to talk about his former club AC Milan before the Champions match against Liverpool.
After four years at AC Milan, Hakan Calhanoglu took the unusual step of crossing the other side of the Navigli. He joined Inter last summer on a free transfer to replace Christian Eriksen.
Calhanoglu has become an important element in Simone Inzaghi’s formation. In today’s press conference before the Champions League match against Liverpool, Hakan returned to talk about about his former club and not in a subtle way.
“I really don’t think that my old Milan teammates and friends can cheer for me. Here in six months I have already won a trophy that I was missing. I care about all the competitions we play. Then Champions League is a dream, it’s right to try and believe in it. These are very important matches that a player cares very much about. And I really want to play it.“
The Turkish attacking midfielder does not forget to remind the journalists that Champions League was a competition he had failed to play in during his AC Milan days. Also, the Rossoneri were not competitive enough to challenge for trophies during his spell.
The 28-year-old has done really well since joining Inter. In 28 appearances with the Nerazzurri, Calhanoglu has scored 6 goals and assisted 9. It looks like the Scudetto this season will be a matter of discussion between the two Milan clubs.
